Dear First Tee Family,

Thank you for staying in touch! We are looking forward to getting back on the course and have been working hard preparing for our upcoming session! Below is a detailed chapter update:

chapter office:

To adhere to social distancing guidelines, we have made changes to our office layout. Visitors to our office will be required to wear face covering and observe social distancing requirements when visiting. Please contact us before coming to the office, drop-ins may not be allowed.

Additionally, office staff (Rebecca, Jamie, Lucio) will be adjusting their in-office hours to further observe social distancing. In most instances, we will be working remotely on the days we’re out of the office but will be checking email and phone frequently. Please allow for a delay in replies in these cases.

Programming Update:

8-week Spring/Summer Session:

Given the changing situation, we are now projecting the start of the Summer Session to be Monday, June 15th. We are currently awaiting the go-ahead from golf course partners and updates to guidelines from local and state authorities before resuming programming.

We plan to “roll over” registrations from the Spring Session to the Summer Session & apply the credits from Spring. If your young player was registered for the Spring Session, they will be automatically registered for the Summer Session on the same class, location, day and time as the Spring Session.

PLEASE OBSERVE there will be exceptions to this plan if:

  • The class size is currently over 12 participants.
  • There needs to be a schedule change due to coach or course availability (we will notify you of these changes.)
  • An unforeseen change is necessary.

We will be emailing each class separately to confirm enrollment for the Summer Session. When receiving the email notification (starting the week of June 1st), families who were already registered will have 48 hours to confirm if their youth plans on attending the Summer Session. If no confirmation is received within that timeframe, the registration for the participant will be cancelled and the spot in the class made available.  (The credit will still be honored towards a future registration.).

***PLEASE wait until you receive the email asking you to confirm your junior’s registration before replying; otherwise your response may not be recorded accurately. We will start sending emails during the week of June 1st***

***Classes with more than 12 students will be reduced in size to adhere to group gathering guidelines. If your junior’s class had more than 12 participants registered, we will contact the entire class and request volunteers who are able to transfer to a different class. If no volunteers are found, the class will be reduced in size chronologically (from latest registrations to earliest) by transferring students to a different class when possible.***

***We are making every attempt to hold classes as close to their original schedule as possible; but please be aware that the number of coaches available will limit our available options at this time.***

*** Staff is very busy adjusting to these changes with focus on resuming programs.  Please do not email or call to find out the chronological order of your registration. Office staff will be contacting the registrants who are impacted, if you do not receive an email by June 5th, your participant’s class is not affected.***

If your young golfer was registered for the Spring Session, but is not ready to come back just yet, that is perfectly OK. The credit can be applied to a future registration.

Families who were not registered for the Spring Session, but wish to register for the Summer Session will have an opportunity to do so, but note that class availability will be limited. Notification will be made as soon as registration opens.

Weekday Summer Camps:

As of Thursday, May 28, 2020 all Summer Camps remain on-schedule. Registration for Summer Camps is still open, but please note that all camps have a maximum capacity of 10 students for two coaches. Camps with one coach will be limited to 5 students unless an Assistant Coach is available.

Girls Golf:

The start of the 2020 Girls Golf program has been delayed due to changes in golf course availability and coaching staff. We do anticipate offering the program, and a new schedule will be published as soon as possible.

Tournaments/PGA Jr. League:

We are coordinating with our golf course partners, fellow captains and staff regarding tournament opportunities this Summer. We are currently weighing the option of postponing PGA Jr. League and returning to a local tournament series. More information will be available soon.

Parent/Student Requirements:

New safety policies and guidelines are being implemented at each of our golf course locations to ensure participant and coach safety. Parents and Youth will be expected to adhere to these guidelines and policies in order to participate in classes. Failure to observe guidelines will result in dismissal from class.

An updated Parent Orientation is being finalized. All parents (along with their young players) will be required to complete this orientation in order to complete the registration process. No participant will be allowed to join classes or camps if this orientation has not been completed before these programs begin. Please stay tuned for more information regarding this requirement.

Additionally, new check-in procedures will be implemented at each golf course location; we will make these new procedures available next week.

Volunteering

Please consider volunteering with First Tee of Contra Costa. Our new safety procedures to ensure everyone’s safety will require additional help; plus it would be a great way to stay engaged in your young player’s golf experience.
